Already in 1750 shipyards started to use the Graphical Lofting technique.

The principal is that longitudinal curves are drawn in full scale ……. On the Loft!

For any X (longitudinal coordinate) are points accurately measured, points are drawn, a conic curve is graphically constructed and this curve is the used for the manufacturing of the ship.

This lofting technique is also what Saab Aircraft started to use end of the forties, but the longitudinal curves were mathematically defined ….
